Anaheim HS

Dear Anaheim High School Community,

Welcome! My name is Ruben Calleros, the principal at Anaheim High School. It is extremely humbling to be serving in this role and an honor to serve the people of this great community for the past three school years.

Our staff is looking forward and excited to welcome our students to the 2024/2025 school year! At Anaheim High School, we work extremely hard to ensure that we fulfill our vision that starts with being a “Center of Learning and Service. To that end, we focus on providing all students with a comprehensive curriculum and research-based instructional strategies to help them succeed. Our teachers meet every week on a Late Start day to discuss best practices, curriculum, data, assessments, project-based learning opportunities, and different interventions to meet the needs of all students. We pride ourselves on ensuring that all of our students will receive an education that will prepare them with the necessary skills to be successful as they move forward in their post-secondary endeavors. Through our Career Preparedness Systems Framework (CPSF), we prepare our students by focusing on three key components: 21st Century Skills known as our 5Cs (Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Character), Technical Skills, and provide our students with a sense of Voice and Purpose. Together these three components help us prepare our students to be college, career, and life-ready, which ultimately leads to meaningful jobs.

One of our top priorities is to ensure that our students have a safe environment in which to learn. To help with this we provide multiple opportunities for our students to connect with our school and feel like they are a part of a family. Anaheim High School offers a variety of courses clubs and programs to ensure that students have options to explore interests, learn, and better prepare themselves as they move forward in their educational endeavors. Some of these opportunities to connect to AHS include Puente, AVID, a wide variety of athletic programs, CROWN, BROS, Dance, Choir, Band, Anaheim Performing Arts Conservatory, ASB, Advanced Placement courses, NJROTC, and ROP courses including our exclusive Biotechnology Pathway.

While we value the curriculum and instructional components at Anaheim High School, we also place a heavy emphasis on mental health and the overall well-being of our students. We have six counselors and two full-time social workers available to support our students when it comes to both their academic, social-emotional, and mental health needs. We also employ a response-to-intervention model to identify, intervene, and support all students, especially our most at-risk students.

Last but not least, here at Anaheim High School our parents and community stakeholders are a critical component to the success of our students. We value the support and involvement of all parents, alumni, and community members and are committed to providing the highest level of customer service to all of our stakeholders. We would like to encourage our parents to stay involved in their child’s education. Parents and community members can get involved with groups like our English Language Advisory Committee, School Site Council, PTSA, and our Parent Ambassador Program. Please also make sure to join our monthly Coffee with the Principal talks, our Learning Walks, and/or any of our parent events to learn how to better support your students and stay current with all of the great things going on in our school and community. Feel free to visit or contact our school with any questions or feedback you may have so that we may continue to work together and ensure that our students are not only learning with a purpose but also reaching their UNLIMITED YOU!
