Transportation Need
Transportation is a growth industry with more than one million people in California working in transportation occupations. Seven of every twelve jobs in the state (seven of ten nationally) are in a transportation occupation; transportation is one of the key "high technology" sectors.
Orange County is known as "Tech Coast," representing the heart of the largest technology center in the nation, a 50-mile radius from the center of Orange County (larger than Silicon Valley).
Opportunities exist in rail, water, air, highway, public transit, alternative fuels, intelligent transportation systems, energy and environment and multi-modal transportation, with jobs in operation, construction freight/shipping, mechanics, service, professional, and manufacturing. Transportation offers broad career paths to workers of varied skill and education levels.
The Anaheim High School Transportation Academy will provide a rigorous, relevant, interdisciplinary curriculum that utilizes creative, hands-on, and field experiences related to transportation to develop team players with a sound knowledge base who solve problems and communicate skillfully. Active participation of business partners and post-secondary schools will ensure that our students understand the options and opportunities available in the transportation field.
