Library Services and Guidelines

The library provides students and staff with a wide range of information resources to compliment the school's curriculum. Computers give access to the Internet as well as to our 6 high quality subscription databases which allow access to thousands of magazine, newspaper, and encyclopedia articles. The book collection continues to be updated and contains over 37,000 volumes of fiction and non-fiction titles for reading and research. More than 20 print subscriptions to magazines and newspapers are available.

Staff:

  • Mrs. Rahn is the teacher-librarian. She spends 3-4 days per week at AHS. The other days she takes care of Sycamore Junior High library.

  • Mrs. Cooley is the library technician. She is at AHS every day.

  • Student helpers are also present most of the day. Our students are very important to the running of the library. We appreciate them!

  • Both Mrs. Rahn and Mrs. Cooley are here to help you find the books and resources you need to be successful in school. We and our students will help you in any way we can.

Important:

If you save on a disk or attach to your email at home, always save your document as a .txt file. This way is will always open at school. We do not have Microsoft WORKS, which many home computers come with. Microsoft WORKS and Microsoft WORD are not compatible!! When you save, use the drop down File Type menu at the bottom of the SAVE box, and change the type to .txt. You'll be glad you did!

We encourage you to invest in a Flash drive, a much more reliable way to save your documents than a floppy drive. Save using the same techniques above. Always STOP the drive before removing it. Check the lower right task bar.
